Supposed specifications for the now-overdue Nikon Z7 III have appeared online, and they paint a picture of a high-resolution full-frame camera with a partially-stacked sensor paired with dual Expeed 7 processors. That combo would seemingly make the Z7 III a rather impressive offering, although the estimated price is still a mystery.

Nikon recently launched the Z6 III to an impressively positive reception, although it has left some fans wondering what happened to the Z7 III — the Z6 II and Z7 II (curr. $2,296.95 on Amazon) launched alongside one-another, after all. A tentative list of supposed Nikon Z7 III specifications has been leaked on Weibo (via New Camera), giving us a possible idea of what to expect from Nikon's next-gen premium full-frame camera.

Bearing in mind that these leaked specifications are tentative at best — with some, like the ultra-high resolution, seeming almost entirely outlandish — here are some highlights of the alleged upcoming Nikon Z7 III (machine translations):

- Accelerated FX format 90.75 Megapixels BSI CMOS Sensor.

- 10.1 mode with cross-pixel super pixel packing for low-light performance.

- 8-stop in-body image stabilisation.

- 14 fps continuous 14-bit RAW photo capture with mechanical shutter.

- 12-bit N-RAW video at up to: 8K 60 fps (with crop), 4K 120 fps, 12K 30 fps (no crop).

The leak also makes mention of an updated dual-axis articulating screen and a bright EVF — likely the same 5.67K-dot, 12 Hz, 4,000-nit EVF found in the recent Nikon Z6 III. The Nikon Z7 III will also supposedly be able to boost its already-substantial resolution even further with a pixel-shift high resolution mode.

For ease of use, the Z7 III will also allegedly feature Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi 6, along with dual card slots which support CF Express and UHS-II SD cards. Autofocus is also slated to get an upgrade from a dual-stream AF system with the same autofocus algorithms as the flagship Z8 and Z9 cameras.

As of now, the pricing and release window for the Nikon Z7 III are unclear, but those details will likely surface closer to the time of launch. It is curious that Nikon didn't launch the updated Z7 III alongside the new Z6 III, since the second-generation full-frame cameras previously launched at the same event. That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Z7 III launch in short order and see a significant price hike, similarly to the Z6 III.
